Opened CMA consultation on Broadcom and VMware merger
On 21 November 2022, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced its investigation of and opened a consultation on the acquisition by Broadcom Inc. of VMware Inc., a provider of multi-cloud services, which will close on 6 December 2022. Representations submitted will assist the CMA investigation into determining if the transaction may lead to a relevant merger situation under the Enterprise Act 2002 and whether the creation of such a situation would potentially lead to a substantial lessening of competition in the UK market.
