On 21 August 2023, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) concluded its investigation into Broadcom and VMware merger and approved the acquisition. The CMA found that the proposed deal would not substantially reduce competition and stated that "the potential financial benefit (...) would not outweigh the potential financial cost in terms of lost business". The CMA also found that the merger would not harm innovation since sharing information with VMware would occur when it's too late for Broadcom to profit from it commercially.
