Opened consultation on CMA findings of Phase 2 investigation and provisional approval of VMware acquisition by Broadcom
On 19 July 2023, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published and opened a consultation until 9 August 2023 on the provisional findings of Phase 2 of its market investigation into the acquisition of VMware, a provider of multi-cloud services, by Broadcom, a supplier of semiconductor and infrastructure software products. In the Phase 2 investigation, the CMA found that the proposed deal would not substantially reduce competition and is unlikely to harm innovation. Therefore, the CMA provisionally approved the acquisition.
