Announced CMA Phase 2 Investigation into VMware acquisition by Broadcom
On 29 March 2023, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced the opening of an in-depth Phase 2 investigation into the acquisition of VMware, a provider of multi-cloud services, by Broadcom, a supplier of semiconductor and infrastructure software products. In the Phase 2 investigation, the CMA will investigate whether the merger would lead to a substantial lessening of competition in the relevant UK markets. The investigation will be concluded by 12 September 2023.
