By 20 April 2026, the European Commission must develop, promote and maintain a user-friendly digital interactive tool in accordance with Article 20(8) of Directive (EU) 2025/2647. This implementation obligation arises following the Directive’s entry into force on 19 January 2026 on 20 days after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union on 30 December 2025. The digital interactive tool must provide information on consumer redress and on the use of alternative dispute resolution in cross-border disputes, host the lists of notified alternative dispute resolution entities and designated alternative dispute resolution contact points, include direct links to complaint forms where available, and offer a machine-translation function made available free of charge to alternative dispute resolution entities and contact points. The Commission must promote the tool and ensure its technical maintenance. This obligation applies independently of Member State transposition and precedes the application of national implementing measures from 20 September 2028.
