On 9 April 2024, the Regulation on the transparency and targeting of political advertising entered into force with a grace period. The Regulation outlines transparency obligations concerning political advertising, including advertising displayed on online platforms, mobile applications, websites and other digital interfaces. In particular, the Regulation would require providers of political advertising services that do not have an establishment in the EU to appoint a legal representative in the Member State where they are providing their services. The requirements will be implemented on 10 October 2025.
