On 2 February 2023, the European Parliament approved the decision to begin negotiations concerning the proposed Directive with new measures to improve conditions for workers on digital labour platforms which contains mandatory data sharing requirements. Specifically, digital platforms will be required to share basic information about the number of people performing platform work and contractual conditions for such work with Member States. Additionally, the responsible labour and social protection authorities of Member States will have the right to ask for additional clarifications on such data. The mandate for negotiations was subject to a vote of the full Parliament after sufficient objections were raised against its initial announcement.
