On 13 December 2023, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union reached a provisional agreement on the Directive on improving working conditions in platform work, including mandatory data sharing requirements. In particular, the digital labour platforms will be required to provide data on the number of persons performing platform work and contractual conditions for such work in the Member State the person is based. Additionally, the responsible labour and social protection authorities of Member States will have the power to ask for additional clarifications on such data. Furthermore, under the agreement, Member States will be required to adopt measures to ensure that individuals performing platform work through intermediary organisations have the same level of protection. The reached agreement now will be legally revised and will go to the Parliament and Council for formal adoption.
