On 1 December 2024, Directive (EU) 2024/2831 on improving working conditions in platform work ("Platform Work Directive"), including mandatory data sharing requirements, enters into force with a grace period. The Member States are required to transpose and apply the requirements from 2 December 2026. In particular, digital labour platforms will be required to provide data on the number of persons performing platform work and contractual conditions for such work in the Member State in which the person is based. Additionally, the responsible labour and social protection authorities of Member States will have the power to ask for additional clarifications on such data. Furthermore, Member States will be required to adopt measures to ensure that individuals performing platform work through intermediary organisations have the same level of protection.
