On 2 December 2026, Directive (EU) 2024/2831 on improving working conditions in platform work ("Platform Work Directive"), including mandatory data sharing requirements, was implemented. The Member States had until 1 December 2026 to transpose the Directive into national law. In particular, digital labour platforms are required to provide data on the number of persons performing platform work and contractual conditions for such work in the Member State in which the person is based. Additionally, the responsible labour and social protection authorities of Member States now have the power to ask for additional clarifications on such data. Furthermore, Member States are required to adopt measures to ensure that individuals performing platform work through intermediary organisations have the same level of protection.
