Announced Senacon investigation into Hurb platform over alleged violations of consumer regulation

On 24 April 2023, the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) opened an investigation into the Hurb platform for allegedly violating consumer rights regarding purchased travel packages. Senacon stated that the proceedings aim to curb abusive practices in the tourism industry while promoting transparency and consumer rights protection. In particular, Senacon stated that in 2023 more than 7’000 complaints were submitted alleging contract breaches. Senacon stated that the company faces penalties ranging from fines up to BRL 13 million to suspension of its activities.
