Description

Implemented Radio Equipment Directive including harmonisation of electronic devices chargers to USB-C

On 28 December 2024, Directive 2022/2380 on harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to the making available on the market of radio equipment is implemented. The Directive harmonises chargers for most electronic devices to the USB-C standard which is now the required port for smartphones, tablets, headphones, speakers, and game consoles, among others. Furthermore, the producers of chargers are bound to install the same fast charging technology across devices. Finally, chargers are to be sold separately from electronic devices.
