Part 5 (except sections 84 and 89(8)(b) and (10)) and section 93 of Automated Vehicles Act 2024 enter into force

On 15 May 2026, Part 5 of the Automated Vehicles Act 2024 enters into force, except for section 84 on civil sanctions for infringements of the permit scheme and section 89(8)(b) and (10) on procedural and administrative matters. Part 5 governs permits for automated passenger services, covering the grant, content and effect of permits, requirements before granting permits, and the collection, sharing and protection of information under permits. Section 93, which enables the Secretary of State and the Welsh Ministers to require traffic regulation authorities to provide information about traffic regulation measures to facilitate communication with authorised automated vehicles, also enters into force.
