On 8 October 2021, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) issued the second chapter of its draft guidance on “anonymisation, pseudonymisation and privacy-enhancing technologies” and opened a public consultation on the draft until 28 November 2021. The ICO listed the main objectives of the data anonymization, defined the concept of identifiability and outlined three key indicators that should be used by data processors to determine if the information collected could be classified as personal data. Furthermore, the ICO noted that the latest technological developments should be taken into consideration by data processors to ensure that the anonymization techniques used remain appropriate for identifying risks.
