Apple appeals verdict and files motion for stay of the permanent injunction

On 8 October 2021, one month after the US District Court for the Northern District of California reached its verdict in the matter Epic Games vs. Apple, Apple filed an appeal in the matter. Apple filed the appeal asking for a stay of the injunction that would enable app developers to provide third-party payment options. The injunction had further ruled that Apple could not prohibit developers from including external links in their applications. In the motion for stay, Apple argued that a rushed implementation of the injunction would cause security risks for both consumers and developers. If the motion for a stay is approved, the former 90-day deadline (9 December 2021) placed on Apple to comply with the injunction would be scrapped and delay any sort of changes to the App Store.
