On 29 March 2023, the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport published the draft Media Bill which would amend the Communications Act 2003 by requiring the Office of Communications (OFCOM) to carry out a review of audience protection measures adopted by “on-demand programme service providers” to ensure that audiences are appropriately protected from harmful content. Specific audience protection measures include age rating or other classification systems, content warnings, parental controls and age assurance measures.
