On 8 November 2023, the Media Bill was introduced to the House of Commons for the first reading. Under the Bill, the Office of Communications would be required to carry out a review of audience protection measures adopted by “on-demand programme service providers” to ensure that audiences are appropriately protected from harmful content. Specific audience protection measures include age rating or other classification systems, content warnings, parental controls and age assurance measures.
