On 22 February 2023, the public consultation closes on the notice of possible remedies issued by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) addressing the competition concerns concerning the Microsoft Corporation and Activision Blizzard merger. The CMA has provisionally found that the merger would reduce competition in the supply of cloud gaming services and would weaken competition in the supply of consoles in the UK market. In its notice of possible remedies, CMA identified as structural remedies partial divestiture of Activision Blizzard and prohibition of the merger and listed the issues that could be addressed through behavioural remedies in case the structural remedies would not be included in the final decision. The CMA will issue its final report on 26 April 2023.
