On 8 February 2023, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) opened a consultation on potential options for addressing its provisional concerns regarding its in-depth investigation into the Microsoft Corporation/Activision Blizzard merger until 22 February 2023. The CMA has provisionally found that the merger would reduce competition in the supply of cloud gaming services and would weaken competition in the supply of consoles in the UK market. In its notice of possible remedies, CMA identified as structural remedies partial divestiture of Activision Blizzard and prohibition of the merger and listed the issues that could be addressed through behavioural remedies in case the structural remedies would not be included in the final decision. The CMA will issue its final report on 26 April 2023.
