On 28 October 2022, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) closed its consultation on an Issues Statement of its Phase 2 investigation into the Microsoft Corporation/Activision Blizzard merger. In the Issues Statement, the CMA outlines how it intends to proceed with the investigation, including naming a number of substantial issues which it intends to investigate. For example, the CMA intends to investigate the possibility of the merger creating a substantial lessening of competition affecting the markets in game consoles and their digital stores, multi-game subscription services, and cloud gaming services.
