Republic of Korea: Announced negotiations on Korea-Singapore Digital Partnership Agreement including data localisation prohibition

On 22 June 2020, the Governments of Korea and Singapore announced the launch of negotiations for the Korea-Singapore Digital Partnership Agreement. The Agreement seeks to facilitate electronic commerce and cross-border businesses. In particular, the Agreement aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in new emerging digital areas, such as personal data protection, digital identities, fintech and artificial intelligence.
