Description

Adoption of amended NetzDG increasing user rights

The German Bundestag adopts the revised version of the Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz as proposed by the legal committee. The revision enhances the duty of reporting illegal content by adding a timestamp and removing content quickly, sometimes within 24 hours, including fines for non-compliance. To prevent overblocking, users can request a revision of a blocking decision if it occurred through the NetzDG mechanism and platforms must document this in their transparency reports (other blocking mechanisms by platforms are not covered).
