On 21 April 2021, the European Commission published its proposal for laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (AI Act) including the establishment of a European AI Board (Art. 56). The board shall advise the Commission in the development and implementation of the regulation also vis-a-vis the Member States. Furthermore, the Act mandates the Member States to designate competent authorities to supervise compliance with the obligations and requirements for “high-risk “ AI systems outlined in the regulation.
