On 14 May 2023, the European Parliament adopted its position on the Act on Harmonised Rules for Artificial Intelligence (AI Act), including provisions establishing a European AI Board. In particular, the draft AI Act establishes the mandate and duties of the European Artificial Intelligence Office, which would be an independent body of the Union. The Office would monitor and ensure compliance with the Act, coordinate joint investigations, cooperate and coordinate with national supervisory authorities and provide guidance on the Act's obligations. The Parliament will start the negotiation with the Council on the final version of the Act.
