On 2 May 2022, the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) rejected Apple's second proposal for a new payment policy and announced that it was planning to impose new fines in the future. The ACM had previously ruled that Apple failed to meet the ACM's requirements regarding the payment system for dating-app providers, resulting in a periodic penalty of EUR 5 million every week, up to a maximum of EUR 50 million. In order to comply, Apple needs to change the terms of admission to the Dutch App Store for dating-app developers, to permit them to use payment methods other than Apple's payment mechanism in the App Store. Furthermore, dating-app providers must be able to relate to payment systems that are not part of the app.
