On 21 February 2022, the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) imposed a fine of EUR 5 million for the fifth time, in response to Apple's forthgoing non-compliance with requirements on dating-app providers. The ACM had previously ruled that Apple failed to meet the ACM's requirements regarding the payment system for dating-app providers, resulting in a periodic penalty of EUR 5 million every week, up to a maximum of EUR 50 million. In order to comply, Apple needs to change the terms of admission to the Dutch App Store for dating-app developers, to permit them to use payment methods other than Apple's payment mechanism in the App Store. Furthermore, dating-app providers must be able to relate to payment systems that are not part of the app.
