On 24 December 2021, the Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has held, as part of its investigation into Apple concerning the treatment of third-party app providers on the App Store, that Apple must adjust the conditions which apply to dating app providers. Specifically, these providers are unable to refer users to payment options outside of the App Store. The ACM has imposed a compliance period of two months for Apple to implement these necessary changes. In case of non-compliance, Apple would be subject to a weekly penalty of EUR 5 million per week, rising up to EUR 50 million. On the same day, the District Court of Rotterdam has largely rejected a request by Apple for a preliminary injunction against ACM's decision, though the Court capped ACM's penalty order to limit the weekly penalties.
