Description

Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs issued a second notice to Google over alleged non-compliance with age verification requirements

On 2 April 2026, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs issued a second notice to Google, particularly YouTube, after it failed to comply with the first notice for inspection regarding compliance with Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on Child Protection in Electronic Systems. Google had previously requested a postponement, citing the need for internal coordination. The second summons was issued pursuant to Article 32 of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 and Article 44 of Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 9 of 2026, under which summonses may be issued up to three times before sanctions are imposed. The Ministry stated that all stages of supervision would continue and that enforcement mechanisms would proceed in accordance with applicable regulations if obligations remained unmet.
