Indonesia: Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs announced regulatory action into Google over suspected non-compliance with age verification requirements

On 30 March 2026, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs requested Google to attend an inspection under Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on Child Protection in Electronic Systems, which requires digital platforms to restrict account access for users under 16 and implement age verification mechanisms. Further, Bigo Live and X were commended for their compliance. The Ministry has indicated it will continue monitoring and may impose administrative sanctions against any platform that fails to meet its obligations.
