On 30 December 2025, the National Assembly adopted the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (Law No. 21312). The Act applies to e-commerce operators and mail-order businesses that publish consumer reviews on cyber malls and similar online storefronts. Under Article 21-4, such operators will be required to publicly disclose information on how consumer reviews are collected and processed. The required disclosures will cover, firstly, the criteria for who is authorised to write reviews, secondly, the period for which reviews remain posted, thirdly, the criteria for ratings and deletion, and fourthly, the procedure for contesting a deletion. The specific content, scope, method, and procedure of disclosure will be determined by Presidential Decree under Article 21-4(2). The Act will enter into force on 21 July 2026.
