New York Algorithmic Pricing Disclosure Act (As part of 2025-2026 Budget Bill S3008C) was signed into law by Governor of New York

On 9 May 2025, the Algorithmic Pricing Disclosure Act was signed by the Governor New York following its adoption on 7 May 2025 and introduction to the Senate on 22 January 2025. The statute, codified as GBL § 349-a, requires any entity that uses algorithms and personal data to determine consumer pricing to provide a disclosure reading “This price was set by an algorithm using your personal data.” It grants the Attorney General authority to enforce compliance through cease-and-desist letters, injunctive actions, and civil penalties not exceeding USD 1'000 per violation. The law exempts financial institutions, insurers, and ongoing subscription arrangements and was scheduled to take effect 90 days after enactment (8 July 2025).
