On 17 September 2025, the President signed the Bill on the protection of children and adolescents in digital environments into Law No. 15,211. The Law regulates the use of loot boxes in electronic games accessible to children and adolescents. It requires that each purchased loot box provide at least one virtual item or advantage, prohibits empty boxes, and mandates clear disclosure of probabilities before purchase. Virtual items obtained cannot be sold, exchanged or converted into money or other financial benefits outside the game environment. The Law also forbids granting disproportionate competitive advantages through payment and requires safeguards against compulsive or excessive use, including purchase limits, alerts and parental supervision mechanisms.
