President signed Regulation Concerning Child Protection Governance in Electronic System Administration

On 28 March 2025, the President signed the Regulation Concerning Child Protection Governance in Electronic System Administration. The regulation sets out requirements for child protection in electronic systems in Indonesia. It applies to all Electronic System Providers offering online products, services, or features designed for or accessible to children under 18. Providers must prioritise children's best interests over commercial considerations, apply age-appropriate design standards, conduct personal data protection impact assessments, implement high privacy settings by default, and provide clear, child-friendly information. The regulation prohibits harmful data practices, unjustified profiling and manipulative designs. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics will oversee compliance.
