Indonesia: Closed consultation on Draft Government Regulation (RPP) concerning Governance for Child Protection in the Implementation of Electronic Systems

On 31 May 2024, the public consultation of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) on the Draft Government Regulation (RPP) regarding Child Protection Governance in Electronic Systems Implementation ends. The RPP includes provisions aimed at protecting children and measures to restrict their access to digital products or services that are not age appropriate. In particular, the RPP would require providers to implement technical and operational measures to ensure the age appropriateness of using or accessing digital products or services. Furthermore, the RPP includes provisions prohibiting the profiling and processing of children's personal data that is unnecessary for providing or administering digital products or services, as well as the collection of geolocation data.
