Indonesia: Ministry of Communication and Informatics opened consultation on Draft Government Regulation concerning governance for child protection in the implementation of electronic systems including data protection regulation

On 16 May 2024, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (MCI) opened a public consultation on the Draft Government Regulation (RPP) regarding Child Protection Governance in Electronic Systems Implementation until 31 May 2024. The RPP includes provisions aimed at protecting children and measures to restrict their access to digital products or services that are not age appropriate. It also includes provisions prohibiting the profiling and processing of children's personal data that is unnecessary for providing or administering digital products or services, as well as the collection of geolocation data.
