Description

Upheld preventive measures in ANPD investigation into Meta's privacy policy allowing the use of personal data for AI training

On 10 July 2024, the Brazilian Data Protection Authority (ANPD) issued an Order upholding its preventive measure requesting Meta to suspend its new privacy policy, which allowed the use of personal data from its platforms for AI training without adequate safeguards. Following Meta's request for reconsideration, ANPD has upheld its decision to suspend the processing of personal data for AI training purposes and the effectiveness of the new privacy policy. It has also extended the compliance deadline for attesting to the suspension of personal data processing for AI training purposes by 5 working days.
