Implemented Assembly Bill No. 694 amending California Consumer Privacy Act of 2020

Assembly Bill No. 694 (AB 694) is implemented on 1 January 2022. AB 694 amends the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and provides new definitions and amendments to the California Civil Code. The act also clarifies the timeline for the California Privacy Protection Agency’s (CPPA) rulemaking authority. The agency will either begin its activities on 1 July 2021, or 6 months after informing the Attorney General, whichever comes earlier. In addition, the bill introduces new definitions to the California Civil Code for advertising and marketing, consent, contractor, and household. The AB 694 is implemented alongside Assembly Bill 335.
