Implemented Law No. 406-FZ amending Act on Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection and Act on Communications including obligation to notify Roskomnadzor

On 15 December 2023, Law No. 406-FZ, including obligation to notify Roskomnadzor, entered into force. The Law amends the Act on Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection and Act on Communications and requires hosting providers to notify the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) before commencing operations involving hosting information on a system permanently connected to the Internet. The Roskomnadzor will maintain a register of hosting providers, and the entities that are not included are prohibited from offering their services in Russia starting from 1 February 2024.
