Passed Bill for the Protection of Minors on Social Media Platforms (HB 1)

On 24 January 2024, the Florida House of Representatives passed the Florida Bill for the Protection of Minors on Social Media Platforms (HB 1) in amended form. The amended Bill requires social media platforms to prohibit users under the age of 16 from opening accounts, verify the age of users, and, if it allows users under the age of 18, clearly disclose a number of policies, including its content moderation policies and whether addictive or deceptive design features.
