Argentina: Announced start of negotiations on MERCOSUR-Singapore Free Trade Agreement

On 24 July 2018, the MERCOSUR Member States, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Singapore announced the start of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement. The parties aim to enhance trade and investment links by securing market access and creating business opportunities. The parties state that they intend to provide businesses with access to government procurement opportunities and simplify trade procedures, while also ensuring improved investor protection.
