Indonesia: Announced Ethical Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence

On 7 December 2023, the Ministry of Communication and Information of Indonesia announced it would issue Ethical Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence. The Guidelines aim to preemptively address various risks and negative impacts associated with the application of AI. These guidelines will serve as a reference for businesses using AI technology. The Guidelines will be voluntary but the Government encourages businesses employing AI technology to adhere to them and consistently consider aspects of inclusiveness, security transparency, democracy, and accountability.
