Announced Kominfo Artificial Intelligence Ethics Guidelines

On 30 August 2023, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) announced that it is developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics Guidelines in response to the increased use of unstructured data in AI technology, particularly through the use of data scraping practices. The Guidelines aim to introduce provisions related to personal data collection, processing and use through AI systems in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). In addition, Kominfo also plans to issue a circular on AI ethics guidelines to promote ethical AI use.
