Indonesia: Opened consultation on Kominfo AI Ethics Guidelines

On 23 November 2023, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) opened a consultation on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics Guidelines. The Guidelines aim to provide an ethical guide for companies and organisations using AI while ensuring that AI is used optimally. The Guidelines were drafted on the basis of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) ‘Recommendations on the Ethics of AI’ in order to prioritise security, proportionality, transparency, human rights, equality, culture and sustainability in the use of the AI system. The Guidelines are designed to fulfil the needs of the Indonesian community, nation and state.
