United Kingdom: Opened consultation on CMA investigation into merger between Vodafone and Hutchison 3G UK

On 11 October 2023, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) opened an investigation into and consultation on a potential merger between Vodafone and Hutchison. The CMA is evaluating whether the proposed joint venture between mobile telecommunications providers Vodafone and Hutchison, if implemented, would result in a relevant merger situation according to the Enterprise Act 2002 and, if so, whether it would result in a substantial lessening of competition in any UK market for goods or services. The CMA is soliciting comments from interested parties to aid in its assessment. The deadline for submitting comments is 1 November 2023.
