On 21 June 2023, the Council of the European Union adopted its general approach on the Media Freedom Act (EMFA), including the right of customisation of the media offer. The EMFA would, among other things, introduce the right for consumers to customise the media offerings on their devices and interfaces. The media services providers and entities developing and introducing devices and user interfaces in the European Market would be required to add a functionality that enables users to change the default settings controlling the media services.
