Announced CMA Investigation into Meta's Use of Data

On 4 June 2021, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) opened an investigation into Facebook for allegedly abusing its dominance in the online advertisement market. More specifically, Facebook is accused of abusing the vast amounts of data it collects through its digital advertising as well as the multi-site use of the Facebook login. Facebook is said to abuse that data for anti-competitive advantages in the online dating and classified ad sectors.
