On 19 September 2023, the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) of the EU Parliament adopted its position on the Regulation on data collection and sharing relating to short-term accommodation rental services. The proposal seeks to harmonise and streamline the framework for data generation and data sharing on short-term accommodation rental services across the EU through the creation of a national “single digital entry point” for the transmission of data between online short-term rental platforms and the public authorities. The Regulation requires platforms to share data on their rentals every month with local authorities, including the listing address, the listing type, and personal information about the guests. The negotiation mandate now has to be confirmed by the Parliament in the beginning of October 2023.
