Issued Supreme Court order suspending decision of lower court concerning undue influence on social media platforms regarding online content moderation (Murthy v Missouri)
On 14 September 2023, the US Supreme Court granted the Government’s request filed on the same day to temporarily block the decision issued on 4 July 2023 by the US District Court Western District of Louisiana, as modified by the Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, which would limit the Government’s ability to communicate with social media companies over content moderation policies. Justice Samuel Alito ordered the stay of the preliminary injunction issued on 4 July 2023 until 22 September 2023.
