Adopted G7 declaration including Action Plan for promoting global interoperability between tools for trustworthy AI and Hiroshima AI process

On 20 May 2023, the Group of Seven (G7) adopted the Hiroshima artificial intelligence (AI) process and the Action Plan for promoting global interoperability between tools for trustworthy AI issued by the Digital and Tech Ministers' Meeting on 30 April 2023, following the annual Summit in Hiroshima. The parties agreed to support the development of international standards for AI and address the challenges posed by generative AI. In particular, the parties directed the relevant ministries in their jurisdiction to establish the Hiroshima AI process by the end of 2023 via the G7 working group and in cooperation with the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to focus on generative AI. Under the Hiroshima AI process, the parties will discuss options for upholding intellectual property rights, including copyrights, addressing foreign information manipulation and developing standards for AI.
