Republic of Korea: Adopted amendment of Telecommunications Business Act including quality of service requirements

On 20 May 2020, Bill No. 2024959, outlining amendments to the Telecommunications Business Act, was adopted by the National Assembly of South Korea. The Bill establishes quality of service obligations for information and communications network providers (CNP) and value-added telecommunications service providers (VSP) that reach a specific threshold. In particular, the VSP and CNP have to implement measures to ensure "secure means for stability of service" and "process user demands". The specific obligations and the thresholds will be established through a Presidential Decree.
